Workshop Overview:

the dot. Consulting workshop, Hello World: Big Concepts of Computer Science and Computational Thinking, will promote implementing computer science concepts focused through the computational thinking lens. We will do hands-on activities that can be directly implemented into the classroom using technology and unplugged activities.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Discuss the following concepts in depth and how each concept is applied to Math, English, Science, and Social Studies:
    • Computational Thinking
    • Algorithms
    • Conditional Statements 
    • Loops
    • Variables
  • Use provided resources to enhance and understand computing concepts
  • Enhance collaboration among teaching staff

 

Workshop Outcome:

Administrators and educators will leave with a deeper confidence in teaching and integrating core computer science technology concepts into their classroom curriculum. Attendees will receive actionable steps to implement computational thinking activities to increase student academic achievement.
